On 1 July 2010, AKE Systemtechnik GmbH established AKE Robotics Sp. z o. o. as a subsidiary company in Silesia, Poland. This represents an expansion of the medium-sized company’s automation services division. Uwe Schneider, AKE Managing Director, sees the region of Katowice as a significant growth market for automation solutions with industrial robots.

Uwe Schneider explains: “The region of Katowice gets high marks for its steady industrial growth and ideal infrastructure. However, we can see that a lack of skilled workers in industry will be a hot topic in Poland as well – with a slight time delay, so in two to three years time. Then, the industry will be forced to further automate its value creation processes.” Between now and then, AKE can establish itself as a provider of fully automated production and robotic cells, with its Polish subsidiary offering automation and robotic technology directly on-site and in close proximity to the customer.

The range of services offered by the Polish AKE subsidiary incorporates robotic simulation with RobCAD, offline program creation, online robot and PLC programming and electrical design and hardware planning. Start-up support, service and maintenance supplement the overall offering, which includes applications such as handling, spot welding, MIG and MAG welding, laser welding, riveting, glueing and clinching.

As Managing Director and an expert in automated production solutions, Uwe Schneider knows the requirements of the industry: “Process reliability, repeat accuracy, short cycle times and high flexibility are essential in order to produce a wide range of products within a small space. This is another reason why the share of robotic systems is steadily increasing.”
