Hardware design

In terms of electrical design, we use CAE systems to map the machine’s electrical components and devices in accordance with safety standards. We also design the components for the control cabinets, calculate the drives and select suitable equipment.

Hardware design – concept examples

The electrical system is designed using CAE systems by Eplan, and it specifies the functional requirements and assesses the safety-relevant parts of the control unit. Finally, the individual sub-systems are assembled in order to verify the performance level by means of a risk assessment.

Drive systems by SEW, Siemens, Lenze and Bosch Rexroth are used when axes are to be moved with pinpoint precision, following the line of the track. For example, we control 3-axis gantries using the Simatic T-CPU.

Detecting characteristics, reading data matrix codes and checking the assembly status – process steps must be continually monitored and documented.

We plan and realise these monitoring tasks using camera systems and vision sensors by Cognex, Balluff, Leuze, Sick, Keyence, IFM and other manufacturers.

We integrate robotic systems from various manufacturers into our machines and equipment, including products by:

We plan and realise the mechanical, electrical and programming aspects of these robotic systems and integrate them into the overall system.

We design the control cabinet as the “heart of the machine”, carefully consider the selection of the control cabinet components and then calculate the power dissipation. We recommend a reasonable means of temperature control for the climate control of the control cabinet.

Assessing the safety-relevant parts of the control unit step by step: we define and fulfil the requirements for the safety functions of control units for devices ranging from machines up to complex robotic systems.

The risk assessment as well as the design of the switchgear and safety programme are compliant with EN ISO 13849-1.

Our objectives are safe machines and safe linked systems. To that end, we are qualified in the use of safety controllers from Pilz or Siemens: PSS 3000, PNOZmulti, F-CPU, Modular Safety System.
